Abstract The twenty-first century has witnessed rapid social transformations driven by globalization, digital technologies, environmental challenges, and evolving cultural norms. Sociology, as a discipline that studies social relationships and institutions, has expanded to examine these emerging realities through new interdisciplinary approaches. This paper explores several contemporary areas of sociological inquiry including digital sociology, social media studies, big data and computational social science, identity and social justice, gender studies and changing family patterns, environmental sociology, globalization and migration, sociology of technology and artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary sociology. Digital technologies have fundamentally altered how individuals communicate, form communities, and construct identities. Social media platforms have become central spaces for political participation, cultural expression, and economic activity, while big data analytics has transformed the methodology of social research. At the same time, sociologists continue to investigate issues such as inequality, environmental sustainability, migration, and technological change. These topics highlight the increasing complexity of modern societies and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration among social sciences and technological fields. By synthesizing key sociological perspectives, this paper aims to provide an overview of how contemporary sociology analyzes modern social transformations and the challenges associated with digitalization, globalization, and technological advancement.
