| Abstract | Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and machine learning are transforming traditional classrooms into intelligent and data-driven environments. This paper presents a survey of over sixty studies (2010–2025) focusing on automated attendance, student engagement analysis, and IoT-based classroom systems. The review highlights the transition from traditional methods to deep learning-based approaches, along with key challenges such as privacy, bias, and scalability. It also outlines future directions, including privacy-aware models and edge-based solutions for efficient smart classroom deployment. |
