| Abstract | This study determined the functional effects of reinforcement practices on the physical activity performance of high school students in the Tinambac North District, Division of Camarines Sur. Specifically, it aimed to describe the reinforcement practices utilized by Physical Education teachers in terms of specific verbal praise, general verbal praise, and non-verbal praise; assess the level of students’ physical performance in terms of endurance, speed, flexibility, and strength; determine the relationship between reinforcement practices and students’ level of performance; evaluate the extent of their influence; and develop policy recommendations to enhance instructional practices. The findings lead to the conclusion that reinforcement practices are moderately applied in Physical Education classes and contribute more to student engagement than to actual physical performance outcomes. Students demonstrate varied levels of physical performance, with noticeable imbalances across components, indicating the need for more comprehensive training approaches. The relationships between reinforcement practices and physical performance are weak, and their overall influence is minimal. Thus, while reinforcement remains essential in fostering motivation and participation, it is insufficient on its own to significantly improve physical performance. The study emphasizes the need to integrate reinforcement strategies with structured, skill-focused, and performance-based Physical Education programs to achieve more meaningful and measurable outcomes. |
