How Deliberate Change Takes Hold: Ambient Organization, Relative Informational Dominance, and Transformational Transfer

Abstract Deliberate human change rarely occurs because a person receives isolated information. Change takes hold when structured differences acquire stable influence over attention, emotion, body, expectation, behavior, symbol, environment, and social reinforcement. This paper develops a functional framework for explaining how such organization emerges, becomes dominant, destabilizes prior patterns, and transfers into ordinary life. The central claim is that durable transformation depends on the relation between Ambient Informational Organization (AIO), Directed Informational Configurations (DICs), Relative Informational Dominance (RID), Cross-Modal Target Coherence (CMTC), articulation, feedback, and transfer. The model distinguishes three pathways of deliberate change: Immediate Direction (ID), Progressive Reorganization (PR), and Informational Dominance Suspension (IDS). It applies these pathways to meditation, hypnosis, ritual, initiation, breathwork, fasting, neurofeedback, pharmacological interventions, and multimodal systems such as Gateway. The framework specifies the functional, embodied, symbolic, social, behavioral, and environmental conditions under which a new configuration becomes dominant, stabilized, and transferable. It also explains why transformation can be adaptive or maladaptive. The paper proposes testable predictions and operational indicators for RID, IDS, transfer, and Transformational Organization (TO) across psychological, contemplative, ritual, and pharmacological domains.
