Abstract | The tourism industry faces challenges in providing seamless, personalized, and accessible experiences for travellers exploring heritage sites. T-Dex is an innovative Android-native mobile application designed to enhance heritage tourism by leveraging Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven recommendations, and offline accessibility. This paper presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of T-Dex, a user-centric platform that enables tourists to discover, plan, and track visits to historical landmarks. The system integrates location-based services, BLE-triggered content delivery, and a modular architecture to ensure scalability and reliability. Through extensive testing and user feedback, T-Dex demonstrates significant improvements in user engagement, itinerary planning, and cultural exploration, particularly in network-constrained environments. The platform’s contributions include enhanced accessibility, personalized travel experiences, and the promotion of lesser-known heritage sites, setting a new standard for smart tourism applications. |
