Abstract | The rising prevalence of premarital sex among senior high school students in Catholic schools, despite teachings on chastity, highlights the strong influence of social media on their sexual choices. This study examines the influence of social media on students' sexual attitudes, experiences, and decision-making within a Catholic educational context. Employing a qualitative-phenomenological approach and guided by Social Cognitive Theory, results revealed that students frequently mimic sexual behaviors encountered online. These behaviors often conflicted with their Catholic moral framework, resulting in internal struggles and inconsistent moral choices. The findings underscored the powerful role of social media in shaping adolescent sexuality and highlighted the need for a holistic response. The study recommends the integration of media literacy, values formation, and pastoral care into the Catholic school curriculum to equip students with the critical tools needed to navigate digital content while remaining anchored in Gospel-centered values. |
