Abstract Anganwadi centres play a crucial role in community health services, particularly for children and pregnant/lactating women by providing essential health care, nutrition and early childhood education in rural and unserved areas. They offer a package of services including supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-ups, referral services and non-formal pre-school education.
