| Abstract | Social media has empowered Indian women to voice their opinions, start businesses, and engage in activism and politics. Movements like #MeTooIndia show its role in driving social change. However, challenges such as cyber harassment, misinformation, and poor digital access in rural areas persist. Women in public roles often face online abuse. This paper explores both the opportunities and risks of social media for women, using real cases and data. It also discusses efforts to close the digital gender gap and improve online safety. |
