Abstract India’s dairy industry generates nutrient-rich wastewater that poses serious environmental risks if untreated. This study evaluates the performance of an aerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) for treating dairy effluents under Indian conditions. The system's efficiency in removing BOD, COD,
nitrogen, phosphorus, and solids was assessed with varying time cycles. Results highlight the SBR as a compact, cost-effective, and efficient olution for decentralized wastewater treatment in the dairy sector.
