Abstract | As the world increasingly turns to renewable energy to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the demand for efficient, safe, and sustainable energy storage solutions is rapidly growing. Electrochemical energy systems, such as batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors, are central to this transformation. This research paper explores the fundamental physics underlying electrochemical materials, current advancements in material science, and the necessity for continued research to overcome limitations in performance, cost, and sustainability. Emphasis is laid on the atomic and molecular scale understanding of materials which can drive innovations in energy storage and conversion technologies. |
