Abstract Cancer remains a major global health burden, causing around 10 million deaths in 2020. Despite medical advances, sociocultural myths and misconceptions continue to hinder effective cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. This review examined prevalent cancer myths, their cultural roots, and their impact on patient care and outcomes. Findings highlight that these misconceptions contribute to delayed diagnosis, poor treatment adherence, and increased stigma. Addressing them requires evidence-based, culturally sensitive strategies led by healthcare providers, community leaders, and media to improve outcomes and quality of life.
Keywords Cancer Myths, Sociocultural Beliefs, Patient Care, Health Education, Misconceptions, Cancer Stigma.
