Challenges to Research Culture in Higher Education: An Analysis for Promoting Collaborations and Institutional Policies

Author(s) Dr. Araceli Macalipay Reclusado
Country Philippines
Abstract Some faculty respondents described research as tedious and time-consuming. It was also cited that it was easier to teach than to engage in research-related activities. Findings suggested that higher education institutions may re-examine their faculty needs in conducting research: consider to attend or participate to research training/workshop; consider the research allowances and incentives; and may have lighter teaching timetable to engage themselves in research-related activities for their professional development and for the students by providing valuable mentoring relationships and learning from expertise.
