Abstract | The synthesis of calcium oxide (CaO) nanoparticles using eco-friendly and sustainable methods has gained significant attention due to its cost-effectiveness and reduced environmental impact. In this study, CaO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using Ananas comosus (pineapple) peel extract as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. The green synthesis approach offers an alternative to conventional chemical methods, minimizing toxic by products. The synthesized CaO nanoparticles were characterized using various analytical techniques to determine their structural, optical, and morphological properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the crystalline nature and phase purity of the nanoparticles. Ultraviolet-visible (UVVis) spectroscopy was employed to evaluate the optical properties and band gap energy. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy identified the functional groups involved in the synthesis process and confirmed the presence of CaO bonds. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) revealed the surface morphology and particle size distribution of the nanoparticles. The results demonstrated that the green synthesis method effectively produced CaO nanoparticles with desirable physicochemical properties. These nanoparticles have potential applications in catalysis, water treatment, biomedical fields, and other Industrial sectors. |
